Elijah

Eli would give the shirt off his back to his sisters if they cried hard enough. He is so tender hearted. When the girls cry, he gives. He does not like to see people unhappy. He feels deeply, is very sentimental, and will often ask people if they know God. He just can't stand the thought of anyone not going to heaven. His heart is tender even though he is kind of a tough guy on the outside. Sometimes I liken him to Bam Bam from the Flinstones, he just doesn't know his own strength. It's just like Emilie says, "Eli, I think God has given you the gift of energy." She is so right. His energy level challenges me and so does his will at times but God uses Eli to refine me. I fail just like he does, so we get to be refined together. This picture was taken on his fifth birthday. He gets shy when he is given an overflow of attention. (as you can see in this picture) Oh buddy, we love you so much.
Here's a funny little conversation I had with the kids the other night. We were reading a book before bed and the book asked what the kid's favorite flower was. I was curious what Eli was going to say as he has never been very interested in flowers. Emilie answered first with, "sunflowers". Eli answered second with a very straight face and said, " daffodilies" Without knowing it he had successfully named a new flower that combined daffodils and lilies. We couldn't help it, we all started to laugh. Emilie was laughing so hard that she started crying. Grace was laughing and had no idea why. It was a moment I will treasure!

He is super cute!!!
All boy!! He will make a great friend and hubby some day. Sweet and fun, and he will 'understand' girls having 2 sisters ;)

Okay, so of course I LOVE the picture - but - the thing that stuck out the most to me was that Emilie knew that God gives you gifts! How many kids her age would even recognize that? You are doing a great job teaching your kids about the Lord. Love you, Anna...and still wish you lived by me. Hey, the "BIG" garage sale is this weekend...
